This Relux training course is offered at an Advanced level for those who are familiar with the concepts covered at the Foundation and Intermediate levels course on Relux Lighting Software Training offered by the Lighting Industry Academy.
Students will learn how Relux calculates daylight factor, solar intrusion and economics of daylight load shedding.
Delegates will explore Relux handling of coloured surfaces and light sources and gain an understanding of how white balance effects rendered views.
The course will explore exterior lighting using dynamic planning, construction of masts and columns, efficient planning using mirroring. Students will use Relux tools to produce reports detailing light pollution and intrusion.
The course modules will also cover the use of optimisation tools for road lighting and converting road layout to exterior.
The course will give the delegates a level of understanding to be able to use the Relux software with confidence.
VIDEO: Relux course overview by tutor Richard Hayes
Relux is a high-performance, intuitively-operated application for simulating artificial light and daylight. This powerful visualisation tool allows for simulation of lighting and sensors in real time for detailed renderings, and an extensive results section to provide a comprehensive report on lighting designs.
It can calculate absolute values, national and international standards, and is compatible with CAD and BIM systems, plus a great deal more.
The application software is available to download free of charge and has over 200,000 users of around the world.
Relux database plug-ins are electronic catalogues which enable the user to select and use a manufacturer’s luminaires within their designs. Leading international manufacturers make around one million product versions and items of measurement data available through Relux’s online platform ReluxNet®. The program also allows users to import luminaire data in the form of EuLumdat and IES data files from compatible sources.
The software supports the following standards for indoor, outdoor and road lighting:
- > Indoor lighting -EN12464-1 (2013), EN1838 (2014)
- > Outdoor Lighting - EN12464-2 (2013), EN 12193 (2008), GR to CIE 112 (1994)
- > Road lighting -EN13201-2,-3 (2016)

WHO IT IS FOR
This course is designed to suit delegates with a detailed knowledge of lighting terminology and lighting design practice, who are familiar with currently supported Microsoft Windows operating systems.
HOW IT IS DELIVERED
The course is delivered via presentations and handout in a classroom setting. The presenter leads the delegates through a series of tasks by demonstration, which they then apply to their own Relux projects.
Each delegate must bring with them a 3 button mouse along with a Laptop/ PC with the latest version of the ReluxDesktop installed, including the Demo Database.
A copy of the ReluxDesktop software can be downloaded from the Relux website at the following link - https://relux.com/en/downloads.html
All learners will be provided with a comprehensive support material covering the topics included in this unit, serving as a valuable point of reference after completion of the course.

The learners are not assessed on this course.
This is the highest level of the Relux Lighting Software course offered at the Academy.
Students may want to consider other courses in Lighting Design Software for training on DIALux which is offered at the Foundation and Intermediate levels and DIALux evo at the Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced levels.
In addition, learners may also want to improve their knowledge of a specific topic of lighting by enrolling on to the courses in one of the following subject areas:
Depending upon the learner's experience and knowledge, they may choose to do the courses from the Introductory, Certificate, Advanced Certificate and all the way up to the Higher National Certificate and Diploma (HNC and HND) in Lighting Design and Technology (in partnership with the University of South Wales).
For individual delegates:
|Member:||£345 + VAT|
|Non-Member:||£385 + VAT|
For a group of up to 10 delegates from a company delivered as a closed course:
Closed company courses are a more effective way to train your staff together for a more cost-effective and flexible solution for your business.
The course contents for a closed course can be tailored to relate directly to the specifics of an organisation’s requirements following a conversation with the trainer.
