SUSTAINABILITY (SUST TC)
Sustainability in lighting is becoming increasingly important and legislated for. With the growing recognition of the impact of energy consumption on the environment and the need to reduce carbon emissions, sustainable lighting has become a key consideration for many building projects and retrofitting initiatives. In the UK, several regulations and initiatives have been introduced to promote sustainable lighting practices. By incorporating sustainable lighting practices into building designs and retrofitting initiatives, we can help create more energy-efficient and sustainable buildings for the future. Included within this are new rules for repairability which is becoming more and more desirable.
Top 3 Objectives for 2024:
- Map and share the regulatory landscape for sustainability in the UK and EU, highlighting areas where development is taking place or anticipated.
- Together with TC membership and LIA secretariat, prioritise those areas of development where the LIA should engage and mandate key tasks to the appropriate TC task force.
- Respond and support member responses to relevant UK Government consultations
