LIGHTING APPLICATION & LUMINAIRE (LAL TC)
Luminaires are a critical component of lighting systems and can have a significant impact on the performance, efficiency, and aesthetics of a space. Standards and regulations related to luminaires cover a wide range of topics, including safety, energy efficiency, and performance specifications. Design and manufacture considerations for luminaires may include factors such as materials, manufacturing processes and product testing. Applications of luminaires may vary widely depending on the type of space or activity being illuminated and may require specialized design or installation considerations.
A group of technical professionals focused on these topics could provide valuable insights and knowledge for those working in the lighting industry.
Top 3 Objectives for 2024:
- Creation of Light Pollution (Dark Skies) TF and review of potential documentation
- Create and maintain information/documentation to ensure members continue to manufacture good quality compliant products and ensure correct application for those products.
- Promote good quality lighting (both spectral, physical, and wellbeing quality) to the government and the wider industry through published documents and other mediums (e.g. TechTalks@2). Work to highlight that cost should not be the primary selection tool for lighting.
