EMERGENCY LIGHTING (EML TC)
Emergency lighting is critical for ensuring the safety of building occupants in the event of a power failure, fire, or other emergency. It provides backup illumination to help guide people out of the building and to emergency exits and it can also help emergency responders to navigate the building and perform rescue operations. Building regulations and fire codes typically require the installation and maintenance of emergency lighting systems in commercial, industrial and public buildings. These systems must meet certain design and performance standards to ensure they are reliable and effective in an emergency situation.
The Lighting Industry Association EML TC discussed all things Emergency, including standards, regulations and best practice in Manufacturing / System design. and helps to direct standards within the emergency market so member companies can be assured good quality product is desirable.

The exciting uplift to ICEL council and ICEL technical board enables his positive views due to Convenor process for CEN 169 WG3 uplifting EN 1838 Emergency light levels in Europe and aligned with EN 50172 Application standard. Ian is also the FIA member of BS 5266-1 in line with his father Chris Watts who is the Chair of this standard.
