Top 4 Objectives for 2024:
- Produce a PAS document to update BS 2782 Method 508A Rate of burning, laboratory method
- Monitor and comment on draft consultations for Approved Documents B & L (and equiv.)
- Raise profile of LIA position and expertise with respect to regulations on Fire safety and Conservation of fuel and power and minimisation of greenhouse gas emissions. (e.g. LENI guidance etc)
- Conclude Fire Rated Downlight (FRD) proposals to minimize testing costs and time. Have a unified & accepted (by NHBC etc) approach

Peter Thorns
Peter has worked in Thorn Lighting and Zumtobel Group since 1985 where he has had a number of roles including electronics research and development, manufacturing, software development, photometry, optical design and lighting applications. He is the current Vice-President Standards for the CIE, chair of ISO/TC 274, and is involved in a large number of ISO, CEN and BSI committees. He is the chair of the LIA Building Regulations Technical Committee and of the LightingEurope working group on Value of Light. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of CIBSE and the SLL.

Kevin has been in the lighting and controls industry for 45 years, involved at all levels in modified & bespoke luminaire design, retrofit and remanufactured solutions, lighting design and lighting control systems. He is keen to share his knowledge and experience across the lighting and construction industry, as others did for him during his career.
