Photometry Testing

Photometry testing is a critical process in the lighting industry, ensuring that lighting products deliver optimal performance, efficiency, and safety. At The LIA, we offer state-of-the-art photometry testing services, helping manufacturers and designers to verify the luminous intensity, distribution, and colour characteristics of their products.

Why Does Photometry Testing Matter?

Reliable photometry testing is essential for several reasons:

  • Compliance: Ensure your products meet stringent national and international lighting standards.
  • Quality: Validate that your lighting solutions perform as intended, providing consistent and reliable illumination.
  • Energy Efficiency: Confirm that your products are energy-efficient, contributing to sustainability and reduced energy costs.

PHOTOMETRIC MEASUREMENTS

GONIOPHOTOMETER MEASUREMENTS
Goniophotometer Measurements

Goniophotometric testing measures light emitted from sources in all directions. Using our LMT goniophotometer and UKAS accredited systems, we can provide you with the lighting design files required for your products. We can assess light intensity and distribution which can then be used to produce your files, such as IES and LDT.

INTEGRATING SPHERE MEASUREMENTS
INTEGRATING SPHERE MEASUREMENTS

Integrating spheres measure the total light output from a source. They are coated internally with reflective material which diffuses the light uniformly, allowing precise measurement of luminous flux, colour temperature, Colour Rendiering Index (CRI) and lumens per watt, crucial for calibrating and quality controlling lighting products.

PHOTOBIOLOGICAL SAFETY, UV & BLUE LIGHT ASSESSMENT
PHOTOBIOLOGICAL SAFETY, UV & BLUE LIGHT ASSESSMENT

Photobiological testing assesses the safety of light exposure from light sources (mainly LEDs), analysing effects like UV, visible, and infrared radiation on your health including risks such as skin burns or eye damage, ensuring products comply with safety standards and protect users from harmful radiation which can cause serious long term health issues.
