Lighting Designer - Holophane Europe

A position has arisen for an enthusiastic lighting designer to join our lighting design team. The role will help provide quality lighting designs to our customers and sales team. This is an opportunity in a business focused on providing excellent service. Over time, the successful individual would be exposed to the wide range of industries and given the support and training to complete their day-to-day activities.

The Role

This person will join our technical lighting design team supporting our sales teams to produce quality lighting designs to the specification lighting sector. With training and support this role has the potential to develop into a broader range of industries using a larger palette of lighting design skills. A can-do diligent attitude with a willingness to learn is essential. The role at Holophane will be mainly office based. 

Day to day responsibilities of this role will include;

• Working on various project sizes from large tenders to small designs.
• Predominantly designing for large interior spaces, external amenity areas, street and commercial lighting.
• Manage design requests and be able to manage their work to meet customer deadlines.
• Daily interaction with sales and customer service to provide up to date design information.
• Assist with ongoing continuous departmental improvement.

The focus is on the customer, and the support of our direct sales team with lighting designs, and technical support.

As a continual improvement business, and in turn department, time within the role is  taken to work on department not just in it, by looking to improve how we do our work, that might be through improved information, speed of delivery, or increased quality of work, this is the focus of role goals in line with the wider business annual improvement priorities.

Qualifications/Experience

A design based and/or lighting design-based qualification from the LIA or ILP or sufficient industry experience.

Experience of lighting design software such as;

• Visual Lighting 3D
• Lighting Reality
• Dialux
• Relux

Understanding of 2D drawing software such as AutoCAD, or 3D /CAD software will be helpful.

Proficient use of MS Office, and our standard computer software.

Ability to work well in cross-functional team environments.

For the right candidate, internal and external training will be provided as required, in order to help develop and grow within the role.

The successful candidate will need to apply adaptive thinking, to be flexible in their daily workload in order to balance the needs of internal customers and unexpected external demands.

They will deal with requests for information from all levels of staff.

They will also be responsible, within the team, for identifying ways to improve procedures and systems to enhance the lighting design department.
